Letterpress copybook contains ca. 347 pages of indexed letters written by representatives of the Los Cerrillos Mining & Reduction Co. during 1882 and 1883 to suppliers, employees, and bankers. Most letters were written by treasurer L. Spiegelberg, but a significant number are by secretary James D. Proudfit. Some document the appointment of T.F. Chapman as agent. Letters are to a variety of individuals and companies, including superintendents Carl Heinrich and Fritz Wolf, and the St. Louis Smelting & Refining Co., among others. Most letters record transactions; others contain financial summaries, results of stockholder meetings, reports to the superintendent, requests for funds, and related items.
